Chatbots that run operations—not just answer questions
A useful chatbot should do more than recite a list of frequently asked questions. That may be a reasonable first step, but operational value appears when the bot understands an intent, collects the required information and completes a specific action.
From conversation to workflow
For a growing company, that might mean registering an applicant, routing a request, creating a support ticket, sending an email or updating a system of record. The operational difference is simple: the team stops copying information between channels.
Measure completed work
Conversation volume is a weak success metric. It is more useful to measure how many cases were completed, how much team time was saved, which percentage required a human and where users abandoned the flow.
Keep the first scope narrow
The first chatbot does not need to understand the whole company. One well-defined process creates a safer way to learn, improve the data and see whether people actually use the experience.
Design the workflow before choosing the technology. When the process is clear, AI can accelerate it. When the process is confused, AI only makes the confusion move faster.
